Big Zell Dis

P.S.: Strassel thinks that Giuliani and Romney are being so tough on immigration that they will be open in the general election to ads on "Spanish language TV ... which will point out how hard certain Republicans fought against the recent immigration reform." It seems to me there's at least as great a danger that Giuliani, by preserving his support for a mass semi-amnesty, will give Hillary Clinton an opportunity to get to his "right" on the issue in the general and win over, or at least neutralize, some normally-GOP voters (just as Bill Clinton succeeded by getting to George H.W. Bush's right on welfare). Hillary's made anti-illegal noises before, remember.... [Thanks to reader S.M.]

Slideshow: Fat Cat Done In By Doggie Door

The case began when an Oregon woman noticed that large portions of food were disappearing from her pets' bowls in the garage.

Then Jadwiga Drozdek discovered a 20-pound cat wedged in the doggy door built into her garage door.

"Four months ago we recognized that the food was disappearing very quick," Drozdek said. "We said, 'Gosh, you know, (our pets) are always eating the same amount, so I don't understand why."

After Drozdek helped the cat squeeze out of the doggy door, she gave the stray some food and brought him to a Humane Society shelter.

"I heard quite a ruckus when I went into my garage," said Drozdek, who cares for six cats. "It was hilarious to see this big cat struggling to get in."

The Humane Society had planned to put the cat up for adoption, but a neighbor of the owner who saw the report on TV has claimed the cat and said he had been missing for six months.

Two indicted for murder in 2007 death of infant

They were charged with one count each of murder, felony murder and cruelty to children in the first degree.

The charges were the result of an investigation that began on Aug. 9, 2007 by detectives with the Cordele Police Department. Det. Charlie McDowell responded to Crisp Regional Hospital in reference to a reported case of child abuse, possibly shaken baby syndrome.

Authorities with the Crisp County Department of Family and Children Services met with the detective and informed him that the baby had been beaten and was suffering from brain injuries.

The baby was on life-support and was later transferred to a hospital in Macon, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

During his investigation, McDowell learned from the child's mother that her baby had been left in the care of her brother and his girlfriend.

Garage-kept in Colorado

When I moved West 10 years ago, there was one thing I never dreamed of seeing: a garage in my backyard. A mountain lion, sure, John Elway and a real cowboy. But not a garage.

I once had a garage, back East, in college. It was handy for storing junk, my weights set and a trailered boat. But the move to Colorado meant leaving the V-hull behind. "Where would we use a boat in Colorado?" my wife asked years ago. (I couldn't answer through my sobs as my prized fishing vessel rode off hitched to another man's truck.)

But my wife's garage pitch was clever: "You can use the garage to hold your new boat." It would be joined by our only car. But I shivered. I saw myself losing open space and gardening room in our modest backyard.

I enjoy parking on a Western street. I can commune with nature by scraping ice off the car in winter, or sliding into a 500-degree driver's seat in our ever-longer summers.

HTC Increases Sales By Over 30 Percent

From January to November of 2006, HTC reported a revenue of $98 million compared to the $107.2 million earned during the same period in 2007. That's just a 9% increase, but you have to admit that things are looking pretty bright for HTC.
