Northrop Wins $40 Billion Tanker Deal
The announcement comes as a surprise to an industry that had considered Boeing a huge favorite to replace the aging KC-135 tankers, which allow fighter jets and other aircraft to refuel without landing. The Chicago-based plane maker, the nations second-largest defense contractor, has built tankers for the Air Force for almost 50 years. But Air Force officials said the Northrop plane, which is larger and can carry more fuel than Boeings, was a better value because it will allow the Defense Department to purchase fewer aircraft. The announcement will give Northrop, the nations third-largest defense contractor, a boost, and help EADS expand its presence in the U.S. defense market. The contract is the first of three orders to replace more than 500 planes, for a total program value that could top $100 billion.
Lear wins appeal in patent suit
Lear Corp., once the largest supplier of car interiors, won an appeals-court ruling that allows it to continue to provide Car2U garage-door openers to automakers until a Johnson Controls Inc. patent-infringement lawsuit is decided. A trial judge had barred Lear from selling the Car2U device, saying there was a good chance Johnson Controls and patent owner Chamberlain Group Inc. would win the suit. Closely held Chamberlain owns the patent and Johnson Controls is the exclusive licensee. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington today said the judge erred in defining one of the key terms of the patent. The court threw out the order barring sales and sent the case back for further review. .
Acts of Fortitude and Integrity of Impeachment
They are succeeding in this before America has reached this achievement. As far as Impeaching Mushareff, it is not seen yet, but the gloves are off when it comes to Bush and his Administration for supporting oppression in Pakistan instead of supporting Democracy. America should be following similar principles. Bush and Cheney and the CIA are not going to like it at first, but they need to take the medicine, because of their truly mistaken deeds. Granted they took out Saddam, but they must be held accountable for the innocent children and families they had a hand in killing. They will blame Saddam, but it was not a Saddam bomb that killed those innocent people in Iraq. It was American made, and delivered. It was American weapons that originally armed Saddam, and American policies that incited the region into volatility.
