| Which Way did the Mammoth go?
There are stalkers out there. During a recent appearance on Osama Mounirs Nogoom FM show, actor Mohamed Nagaty was shocked when one of the female callers claimed on air to be his new fiancée. Nagaty admitted that while the young woman in question had indeed sent him a watch, that didnt necessarily mean he plans to marry her. .
QPR 3-0 Stoke
QPR prevented Stoke from going back to the top of the Championship table with a convincing victory at Loftus Road. Mikele Leigertwood put the hosts ahead with a stunning 25-yard drive and then struck from 12 yards from Rowan Vine's headed knock-down to double the lead. Stoke had captain Andy Griffin harshly dismissed following a challenge for the ball with Hogan Ephraim before Akos Buzsaky's low shot made it 3-0. The Potters hit the woodwork twice and worked hard but without reward. QPR coach Luigi De Canio:"We have beaten the top teams this season. "This shows we need to acquire the mentality when playing teams at the bottom of the table that we show against teams at the top. "Consistency is important, because our position in the table is defined by our performances week in, week out." Stoke manager Tony Pulis on Griffin's dismissal:"I don't think it's a sending off.
BUSTED--THE COMING CREDIT-CARD MELTDOWN
There is little hope for the credit addicted working poor but a '29 style crash. The War on Drugs fights a supposed enemy that is not a 10th as damaging as the deliberate hooking of America on that other drug of choice (now necessity) easy credit. It's note even easy credit--for thirty years it's been necessary credit as real wages and decent jobs shifted underfoot like sand. Every single economic choice during those 30 years, between the welfare of people and the welfare of greed, has been settled in favor of greed.A Congress that will not vote in a decent minimum wage, allows 18% interest on credit purchases that jump to 30% if a single payment is late.A Congress that will not vote in a decent minimum wage, tightens bankruptcy laws in favor of the lender.A Congress that will not vote in a decent minimum wage, votes $3 trillion in tax benefits to the already rich and strips its people of health care, threatens their social security and makes of us a 'temp agency' society.A Congressman who will not and has not voted in a decent minimum wage, answers a query as to why this is possible with a computer-generated response that he 'shares my concern and will take my position into account as economic issues develop.'Meanwhile, our increasing downward spiral into subsistence wages forces an actual wall between America and Mexico, so desperately poor Mexicans do not interfere with the jobs of newly desperately poor Americans.
Police chief says charges likely against top cops
And that will be a matter that proceeds, I assume, before the courts," she said. "It may mean we have to take action in terms of looking to charge individuals; it may be other disciplinary procedures might be put into place." Ms Nixon's comments follow speculation that the OPI is likely to recommend serious criminal charges against the police union's Sen-Sgt Paul Mullett and former assistant commissioner Noel Ashby. A report by retired Federal Court judge Murray Wilcox, QC, is expected to be tabled in State Parliament this week. It's been suggested that the report will recommend that Mr Mullett, who has been suspended on full pay, be charged with perverting the course of justice and that Mr Ashby and former police media chief Stephen Linnell be charged with misconduct in public office. Mr Wilcox's recommendations will be referred to the Office of Public Prosecutions, which will decide whether to lay charges.
Police Seek Man Tied To Scofield Farms Break-Ins
Police are searching for a man linked to a crime spree from October to December in the Scofield Farms subdivision of North Austin. Pedro Miguel Torres-San Juan, 19, was arrested last month in Sulphur Springs in Northeast Texas on marijuana and stolen firearms charges. He was locked up for about 24 hours in Sulphur Springs before posting bail and is still on the loose. The Austin Police Department said charges against Torres-San Juan could not keep him behind bars long enough to have him sent back. Hopkins County deputies said they had no idea the man was wanted for the crimes in Scofield Farms, because the arrest warrants for three incidents were not filed until Dec. 31. Officers said Torres-San Juan is tied to at least three burglaries, stealing many items, including electronics, a pistol and several shotguns.
Math-challenged Sheriff Joe Arpaio can’t account for the $41 million ...
Ironically, the Supreme Court struck down the porn part of the law soon after it was passed. But the exemption for Internet publishers stands. The U.S. Supreme Court has shown zero interest in entertaining a challenge to it, Goldman says, much less overturning it. Goldman believes Congress made a good decision. "It's very hard to put online service providers in the role of judge," he says. "If we asked online service providers to do this, they'd take the path of least resistance. They'd take the content down. And if they did that, we would see a chilling extinction of negative feedback about products and services in the marketplace." And so Web publishers today have the freedom to publish real, uncensored customer reports and, while they're at it, to publish false information.
XC70 Volvo 'more macho'
Nothing says "you've had a few children, stopped having sex, given up on life and traded in the spicy coupe" as much as a big old family station wagon. In the past, station wagons were basically a sedan with an annexe out the back to shove luggage, the children's toys, the dog and the mother-in-law. I'm kidding . . . it would be a bit mean to shove Fido in the back. Today's station wagon has been reinvented with snappier silhouettes that curve like a coupe, have shorter overhangs and snazzy names like Sportwagon. The Volvo XC70 is a toughened all-wheel-drive version of its big, lumbering V70 wagon and now the updated model comes with a few new styling cues that make it more macho. Despite the Volvo badge, this wagon certainly doesn't say: "I've given up on sex." Even so, the new model is a family wagon with several safety and family-friendly features such as world-first two-stage integrated child booster seats in the rear, extended rear curtain airbags, stronger side structures, two-stage airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, improved crumple zones, rear parking alerts, a stack of advanced electronic driver aids, whiplash protection etc.
