| Gettysburg's Warrior Stadium project on view
Gettysburg Area School District unveiled a sketch plan for its new Warrior Stadium, submitting drawings to the Straban Township Planning Commission. The sketch plan, displayed Wednesday, is a typical first step for a large project such as a new stadium, which entered its planning stage last April. Architects from Derck and Edson Associates will present preliminary and final plans to the planning commission as the project continues. The sketch plan's purpose is to give the planning commission and community members a feel for the design of the project, and the opportunity to ask questions or address any initial concerns they might have. "In reality, it's a courtesy, but the function is to inform everybody of what's to come," said Alan Zepp, chairman of the planning commission.
Devout throng city roads
Of the 4,186 officers, JCOs and other ranks who had registered their names for employment with this cell from 2000 to January 2008, 2,267 have been provided with suitable jobs. In 2007, the Western Command Placement Node had provided jobs to 18 officers, 126 JCOs and 287 other ranks. Of the 12 placement nodes in the Army, Chandigarh Node achieved the second position in providing jobs to 66.11 per cent Army personnel from January 1, 2006, to March 31, 2007. This was because of a large number of corporate and IT companies having opened their offices in the tricity of Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. More jobs for ex-servicemen are likely to be generated in Rajpura, Dera Bassi, Ropar, Baddi and Parwanoo in the next few years because of the rapid industrial development of these towns. .
Yes or no on nuclear plants? It's a complex question
Although contested, the U.S. military denies any health impacts associated with DU. The list goes on and on. This is a minute fraction of the callousness and inhumanity of the U,S. nuclear establishment. Presently, the DOE is telling us they do not need to cleanup all of the hazardous waste at INL's Subsurface Disposal Area, This decision is based on their benefit/risk analysis. Given this shameful nuclear legacy, the citizens of Idaho would be negligent if they did not question every utterance of the military/nuclear/scientific complex. " .

PM's warning: Prepare for inflation pain
The Australian Industry Group will also warn today that economic growth is likely to fall short of 3 per cent over the next 10 years. "All the advice I receive from Treasury is that growth will continue at a relatively strong pace," Mr Swan told the Nine Network. "It may slow a little but if you go out there and talk to employers, there are labour shortages, there are skill shortages, business investment is strong and, of course, we've received the news over the past week that there will be further increases in international commodity prices, which will be a substantial benefit to this country." But Mr Turnbull accused Mr Swan of failing to address the relationship between inflation, interest rates and employment. "What he's not prepared to do is come clean and admit that his policy is one of encouraging the Reserve Bank to raise interest rates aggressively," Mr Turnbull told The Australian.
Stagflation and the Fed
Jobs are one of the last things to fall in a recession, as employers are reluctant to cut back but then begin to do so more rapidly as it becomes clear we are in a recession and not just a temporary slowdown. The index of Leading Economic Indicators continues to plunge, and is not far away from levels last seen in 2001. Such a drop by the LEI has always been accompanied by a recession. And finally, let's read a quick note from über-bull and friend Louis Navellier that just hit my inbox: "At the beginning of the week we hoped the market would stage a fundamentally-led, broad-based rally after the monoline insurance companies, namely Ambac and MBIA, were able to keep their triple-A ratings. Unfortunately, a healthy rally did not unfold. Instead, the markets rallied briefly, but with junk leading the way.
McAllen cracking down on garage sales
McALLEN — The Saturday afternoon garage sale is no longer as easy and emptying your closets and hammering a sign onto your front lawn. A new city ordinance in McAllen restricts residents to selling only "used merchandise or personal property" — not new items, as is allowed under the former code. The regulation is set to go into effect this week. The more stringent regulations follow city officials’ discovery that residents were selling gift baskets and tourist merchandise out of their homes under the auspices of a garage sale, said McAllen Planning Director Juli Rankin. "Frankly, before this came to light I didn’t think it was that active," she said. "Around holiday times we do get people who make things, like figurines and gift baskets. "This last Valentine’s Day we had people make up Valentine’s baskets with candy and flowers and then sell them from their residence." Such activity disrupts the quality of life in the city’s neighborhoods, officials say.
